No longer will you be checking when you board a plane to see if you’re unfortunate enough to be sat next to the unruly child or drunken stag party now you’ll be fearful of the mobile addict.
According to AeroMobile a UK-based GSM provider for the airline industry, providing services that allow the safe use of passengers’ own phones on aircraft they have seen demand for in-flight connectivity double over the past 12 months!
Since the AeroMobile in-flight mobile service was launched more than 900 calls, 25,000 text messages and 10,000 mobile devices have been connected to the internet on Emirates, Ethiad and SAS flights to and from Dublin.
And according to their research:
- Half would use in-flight mobile to send text messages;
- 44% would like access to apps including social accounts such as Facebook and Twitter;
- A third would use in-flight connections to browse the Internet;
- A quarter would keep themselves occupied with online games – more women than men said they would use their device for this activity;
- Just 19% would use in-flight connectivity to make a phone call – surprisingly more men than women would chat on a phone in-flight.
So where do you sit with regards to using your mobile in flight?
One thing you will be surprised to hear is that you will be charged roaming rates to use your mobile inflight. Consequently you may wish to consider our international SIM card to keep costs down when on board.
