EU text rates to drop but roaming still applies

The EU commission has succeeded in capping UK network mobile roaming charges for mobile phone users across Europe, and has now introduced plans to cap the text rates in the summer of 2009. However, the caps still mean that a UK user in Europe continues to pay to receive all calls and will be charged around three times the price of a UK domestic call when abroad. 0044 now provides two options to help you beat the charges that remain. A Global SIM or International SIM card from 0044.co.uk means you can still receive calls abroad for free and make calls at dramatically lower rates. Also available is the French SIM card and Spanish SIM card which can make and receive calls in those destinations at far cheaper rates.

The new pricing restrictions may also result in UK mobile networks clawing back the lost revenues by increasing domestic rates and reducing the freebies that are provided with most contracts like flashy handsets and free minutes or text bundles.

However, with the new 0044 Global SIM or International SIM cards all you need to do is purchase the Global SIM or International SIM on-line at www.0044.co.uk and enjoy roam free usage of your mobile across Europe and 100 other destinations. Incoming calls are free on the Global SIM and International SIM cards and outgoing calls rates are reduced compared to UK network roaming charges.

Angus MacLeod of 0044 Ltd commented, “We’ve been helping consumers avoid these excessive roaming charges for several years now, but the EU commission’s decision still leaves the consumer paying through the nose when they don’t deserve to. The new 0044 foreign SIM service plus our Global SIM and International SIM means that consumers can effectively use their mobile across Europe in the same way as they do at home without any financial penalties.
